A location which was secret for a long time. The garden of the queen Pomare IV surrounded the royal palace which was located where the current assembly is. It has been laid out in 1858 in a swampy and mosquito-ridden area around the source of the Papeete River, which gave its name to the town. The queen’s secret garden regroups a great fruit-tree variety such as a breadfruit tree, a mango tree, an avocado tree, a “corrosol” tree with fluffed fruits, and huge trees such as the “badamier” and the banyan tree. Many palm trees have curled or tail-fish shaped leaves. Tahiti Heritage propose un dossier complet sur le jardin de l'assemblée
