The French navy, first royal then republican, had an essential role in French Polynesia history. Located in the historic center of the town, next to the port in an area where the name of streets show the navy's impact, this imposing building has sheltered for many years the Commend of the national Navy.
Drawn up by a navy painter, it is a perfect example of the 19th century military architecture with a symmetrical front.
