Health has not been treated yet. So let's focus on this prestigious institute. After World War II, the American William Albert Robinson settled in Tahiti. He noticed that more than 80% of the Polynesians was affected by the “elephantiasis”, a disease transmitted by mosquitoes that causes terrible distortions of the lower limbs and genital organs. Indeed he decided to build in Tahiti a filariasis research centre helped with financial aids of American friends. He created the institute that quickly becomes a global reference.
