This house, with its peripheral metallic gallery and its little rooms equipped with high ceilings is a typical example of the 19th colonial hospital architecture. It was the house of the pharmacist of the Vaiami hospital that is located in the neighbouring parcel. During its conversion into an Environment House in 1955, several palm trees were planted such as one Pritchardia which is an endemic palm tree of Polynesia.
