Avenue Bruat
Arbres d'alignement
You can't miss it. The Pouvanaa A Oopa Avenue, formerly named Bruat Avenue, was surely one of the first ways built through Papeete. At that time, the avenue was divided in two sections: the Bougainville Street (from the seafront to the first cross-road) and the White Queen Street. In 1880, the two sections were renamed Bruat Avenue and then in 2007 it took the name of the separatist leader Pouvanaa A Oopa. Surrounded by two majestic and centenarian maru maru (Albizia saman), this avenue is one of the nicest arterial street. Consequently the administrations have decided to settle there.
